One thing I made sure I did as a mother was to let Shelby
know that through the thick and thin of it all she was loved deeply
by me and her father.
A simple "I love you"
at the start of the day,
randomly through the day,
in her lunch as a note on a napkin,
etc.
especially at bedtime.

Today it came back trifold.
While sitting in the living room watching tv
Shelby came to me and said,
"You haven't had your hug and kiss today. I love you, Mommy."
That was it.
She went back to coloring as if nothing happened.
My heart is a lump of love.
Until then...

Oh my goodness! I would have melted! That's just too sweet. She's a sweetheart, that Shelby.
Shelby doing this just tells me that you are doing something right. Oh, how I wish I could get one of those "hugs" from any and all of our sweet girls - all seven of them!
I hope Shelby knows that her Weezer and GrandDad love her much and much. She's always been a little sweetheart to Weezer.
